Touchdown down under! Arrived at 8am or
thereabouts (memory definitely getting fuzzy now). Been on the go from
11am UK time on Friday to 11pm Saturday night (UK time). Got home to find
out the neighbour had tried to look after my pool and managed to run the
pump with one of the valves closed, which caused the pump to seize
(thankfully only the plastic parts, which look like they can be
"easily" replaced). So feeling a bit groggy I had to try and
dismantle it all and work out what the problem was, which is why I ended
up with the obligatory thumped and cut finger using too much brute force
and ignorance!
Monday 2nd
Back to work - after a long sleep trying to
catchup on some zzzzz's. Didn't get out for lunch, and by the time I left
at 7pm, I managed to fall asleep on the bus on the way home and missed by
stop! So by the time I got a bus back down, and walked the rest it was
about 9ish when I got home - what a dope! I woke up as well a few stops
before my stop, and before I had a chance to think it was ZZzzzzz back off
to sleep again for 10 mins! Just enough to end up a couple of miles away
from the house. Ah well, it was a nice clear night to look at all the
millions of stars you get to see here, as the street lights are few and
far between which cuts down the glare and makes the stars really easy to see, right down to the little tiny ones you don't often see.
Tuesday 17th
Had to go to the Airport this morning, and I
couldn't believe my eyes when I went outside. I knew it had been quite
cold recently, and have had the heating on at night (big softy I know!),
but when I got to the car I had to scrape the windscreen to get the frozen
dew off the windscreen !! It was 6 degrees and you could see your breath!
The news said it was the coldest day Sydney had seen in 21 years! Brrrrrrr!
