Sunday 6th
Went down to see Tom and Susan in Woollongong today, and on the hope of
getting a taste of real square lorne sausage, we went along to the
local Tartan Day! It was a small low-key gathering of presumably Scottish
immigrants and their family trees, and sported a decent pipe band, a
piping of the haggis ceremony and of course, a square sausage, haggis and
black pudding fast food stand! So that was lunch sorted.
Holly had great fun dancing a jig around in circles with me to the
sound of the pipes playing!
To cap it all, for a laugh I entered the caber tossing contest,
and in the second round I somehow managed to be the only one who flipped it over.
I ended up winning the competition and to our surprise, I was called up
to get presented with a couple hundred dollars worth of tools from
Bunnings (the Aussie equivalent of B&Q!). Got my photo taken and
everything, so maybe I'll be in the "Tartan Gazette" or
something local! Just shows you what beginners luck can do!
